Product Overview:
The PIA570 is a high-performance, low-noise current preamplifier designed for amplifying low-frequency weak current signals. It features configurable bandwidth and gain, making it suitable for a wide range of applications including cryogenic measurements, chip-level low-frequency noise measurement, sensor detection, photoelectric detection, audio engineering, and vibration engineering.
5 fA/√Hz input noise (typical)
1 MHz maximum bandwidth
Adjustable bias voltage and offset current
Two configurable bandwidth filters (low-pass/high-pass)
External power supply or battery operation
The instrument can be used standalone or integrated with devices such as oscilloscopes, lock-in amplifiers, and dynamic signal analyzers.
Input
The PIA570 converts current signals into corresponding voltage signals with a settable gain range from 1 pA/V to 1 mA/V. The input is fully floating (BNC shield* not connected to chassis ground). The preamplifier's feedback capacitance can be adjusted via Fbc to fine-tune the bandwidth using a small screwdriver. Simultaneously, BIASV allows measurement of the currently set bias voltage value.
Output
Sensitivity
Sensitivity can be set from 1 mA/V to 1 pA/V. Two gain modes are available: low-noise mode, which allocates gain before the filter to optimize noise performance, and high-reserve mode, which allocates gain after the filter to reduce sensitivity to signal overload.
The BNC connector provides a 50Ω output impedance and can deliver a maximum signal of 10 Vpp to drive subsequent loads.
Filter
The PIA570 includes two programmable first-order RC filters. Different combinations allow for five filter mode settings:
LPF (6 dB/oct), BPF (6 dB/oct), HPF (6 dB/oct), LPF (12 dB/oct), HPF (12 dB/oct). Filter mode and cutoff frequency can be set via the front panel. The frequency range spans from 0.03 Hz to 1 MHz, increasing in a 1-3 sequence (e.g., 3 Hz, 10 Hz, 30 Hz, 100 Hz…).
Battery Operation
In addition to 220V AC mains operation, the instrument features built-in battery power. Battery mode significantly reduces power frequency interference, conducted disturbances, and wireless coupling interference, making it ideal for field applications. The rechargeable lithium battery provides up to 10 hours of operation. It charges automatically when connected to an external power supply, with a charging time of 4 hours. The front panel LED indicates the battery charging status.
